Lisette's Bachelor's Thesis Defence
Sulev Sild

We are happy to share that Lisette Pihor, a bachelor's student in our research group, has successfully defended her bachelor's thesis titled "Feature Selection for Evaluating Acute Toxicity with Neural Networks" on 12 June 2025 at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Tartu. Lisette's work focused on evaluating feature selection methods for artificial neural networks. The modelled property and organism were the toxicity of chemicals on Tetrahymena pyriformis. The defence committee awarded her work with an A grade.
Her supervisors, Sulev Sild and Uko Maran, are very proud of Lisette's achievements and thankful for her original contribution to the group's broader efforts in modelling toxicity. We also thank her opponent, Dr Stefan Hermann Kuhn, for evaluating her thesis and insightful questions.
Our research team celebrates this significant accomplishment with Lisette.
